As an educator, patient education is a big focus of mine. I think there’s a lot of women who don’t understand the changes that happen in their bodies.

Originally from Oregon, I just love it here. People are nicer in Alaska!

My medical background is varied, but it all comes back to women’s health. I’ve been able to work with everyone from teens to victims at the public health clinic. That includes forensics care and sexual health.

At the STD clinic, I had all of these really great mentors who were providers. I realized that as a Registered Nurse, there were a lot of limitations in providing care. I wanted to go to the next level, to really give patients the support they needed. I wanted to be like my mentors! Being a Nurse Practitioner would allow me to do that, which led me to Denali.

Before joining the Denali team, I had met all their providers while working in the postpartum unit. Everyone in the community looks up to them. The providers and clinic have a great reputation. I’m so happy to be on the team!

I always want to offer the best patient experience in any given situation. Sometimes it’s helping a young girl have a good experience during her first pelvic exam. Sometimes it’s helping victims of violence. Sometimes it’s working with women going through chemical hormonal changes. I enjoy every aspect of women’s health.

As an educator, patient education is a big focus of mine. I think there’s a lot of women who don’t understand the changes that happen in their bodies, whether it’s puberty, menses, pregnancy or menopause. Education is so important. That’s why I’m excited to offer seminars at the clinic!

Angelia graduated from the Midwife School at Frontier University. She’s a Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.
