As a teen, I had acute and chronic health problems that kept me in the hospital for an extended period of time. As a patient, I experienced both incompetent and exceptionally compassionate care. This made me realize, what a difference good medical care can make in someone’s healing process. That was when I decided I wanted to be a doctor. Ever since, taking care of people has always seemed like the right way to live my life, both professionally and personally.
I chose to specialize in OB/GYN care because it offers a unique opportunity to care for women from their transition into puberty to their geriatric years. Every woman has different needs, care and communication requirements at each stage of life. Individualizing each woman’s care is very important to me. I have a special interest in perimenopause and menopausal care. This transition is often overlooked, but it is impactful in a woman’s life and health.
We see women at their most vulnerable, and when they are stronger than they ever expected. That’s the privilege of what I do.
I enjoy delivering babies. We all remember (and can recount) our birth stories. My goal is to make sure every mother’s story is the healthiest for her and the baby.
I had the opportunity to come to Alaska during high school for a research project. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to move here…someday. It’s exciting to realize that dream.
