OBSTETRICIAN-GYNECOLOGIST
ABOUT ME
In my nearly 40 years as a doctor, I have gotten to know countless women very well. Earning the trust of my patients is important to me and it gives me great satisfaction when patients bring their family and friends to me for care, or simply stop me in the store to say ‘Hello.’
I always want to build relationships with my patients and have continuity of care over the course of their lives. Women have a wide range of health needs as they go from adolescence to childbearing years to menopause and into later life. Obstetrics and gynecology are fields of medicine that allow me to develop this kind of long-term relationship with a patient and grow with her throughout the years, being there for the major milestones of her life.
Born and raised in Russia, I have participated in two different medical systems. In Russia, we relied heavily on hands-on clinical skills rather than technology. Then, I went through my training in the United States, which emphasized technology. As technology continued to evolve, with ever-more more effective, less invasive diagnostic and treatment therapies, I developed expertise in all these techniques. So, I have benefited from both approaches, enabling me to combine the human side with the most recent scientific advances, giving my patients the best care that is both compassionate and technologically advanced.
I care deeply about my patients. Part of that means listening carefully to what every woman tells me about her health and what is happening with her body. I need to know her health history but also her social environment, state of mind, and life situation. This enables me to take a holistic approach and craft a treatment plan unique to her.
I believe in giving my patients all the information I have in a straightforward manner, and being there to guide her through the decision-making process. I give her the medical information she needs and support the decisions she makes. My goal is to empower every woman to live a strong, healthy, happy life.
“I care deeply about my patients, and part of that means listening carefully to what every woman has to tell me about her health and what is happening with her body.”
WHY SHOULD A PATIENT CHOOSE DENALI OB-GYN?
Along with three other physicians, I helped form Denali OB-GYN Clinic in 2004. We were united in our desire to provide compassionate care to our patients. We strive to keep the atmosphere in the clinic personable but professional, where everyone feels welcome and important.
Each provider at Denali contributes a unique set of skills, varying from fine-tuning hormone imbalances, to treating urinary incontinence, performing a complex hysterectomy, or helping someone get pregnant.
Being part of a team with a strong sense of collegiality allows us to consult each other on complicated issues, and as a result, every patient at Denali is getting the combined knowledge and expertise of an entire team of doctors who specialize in women’s health. And I just don’t think you can find that anywhere else.
I grew up in Siberia, and that was a major part of my moving to Alaska years ago. I wanted a place that reminded me of my homeland. Women in Alaska are adventurous – that is very attractive. The doctors at Denali OB-GYN are Alaskans and we understand the unique lifestyle and conditions that come with being an adventurous Alaska woman.
I love to travel, and I love my job. Down the road, when I retire, I am thinking about combing those two passions by joining Doctors without Borders. I will be bringing Alaska-level care to other people who do not enjoy the benefits we have here. This makes every moment here and all the care I provide to Alaska women very meaningful to me.
