CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIFE

ABOUT ME

Growing up, I had limited exposure to the medical field and wasn’t entirely sure what career path I wanted to pursue. However, I always felt drawn to healthcare. I explored various roles, working as a unit coordinator and patient care technician, before discovering women’s health. That experience opened my eyes to the stigma surrounding women’s healthcare—where care often felt overly medicalized, dismissive, and even traumatic. In that moment, I knew I had found my passion and committed myself to being part of a positive change.

I began my nursing career in 2014 with the clear goal of becoming a certified nurse midwife. I started on a cardiac step-down unit for two years, then transitioned to labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing for another two years while attending school. In 2018, I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University and began practicing as a certified nurse midwife. To deepen my knowledge and skills, I went on to complete my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2023, also from Frontier Nursing University.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in both physician-owned and midwife-owned practices. I’ve supported labor and birth in a variety of settings, from hospitals to freestanding birth centers, each experience enriching my passion for holistic, patient-centered care.

I was born and raised in Minnesota and spent 12 years living in Michigan before moving to Alaska in 2022. I’m a passionate sports fan and enjoy playing softball and hockey. Since relocating to Alaska, I’ve embraced the outdoors, finding joy in hiking, fishing, camping, and even learning to snowboard. In my free time, I love reading medical dramas and historical fiction, and I look forward to discovering new hobbies as I continue to explore everything Alaska has to offer.

“Being a midwife means to be “with woman” and that encompasses more than just physical well-being. I strive to support women in their emotional, spiritual, social and physical journey to be their best selves.”

WHY SHOULD A PATIENT CHOOSE DENALI OB-GYN?

I have attended births in an out-of-hospital setting and have learned that my preference is supporting labor and birth in the hospital. While the highlight of my work is supporting families in their pregnancy and birth journey, I absolutely love all aspects of the care I can provide as a CNM. I especially enjoy working with adolescent patients just starting their journey in the female body and navigating menarche, contraception, and sexual health. I also enjoy working with patients on their mental health journey, especially in pregnancy and the postpartum period.
