ABOUT ME
Growing up here, I fell in love with the great outdoors and the active lifestyle it inspires. Whether I am biking, running, or gliding across snow, I thrive on the amazing capabilities of our bodies, the camaraderie of the people I’m with, and the beauty of the Creation around me. Similarly, in the field of OB-GYN, I am constantly amazed at what the female body can do! I am also grateful for our OB-GYN and medical community around me, as we work together to help heal and serve the women of this great state. The same drive and energy that motivates me out on the trails motivates me inside the office/hospital; I am hard-working, dedicated, and always ready to go the extra mile. I am passionate about movement and living a healthy lifestyle, but I have an even stronger passion for caring for others, which is what initially drew me into medicine in the first place!
Throughout my medical education and training, I have explored various regions of the US, before finally getting to settle down back home in Alaska. I studied Exercise and Movement Science while completing my pre-medical requirements and Nordic Ski racing at the University of Vermont. I then attended Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington where I started medical school training and also found a love for triathlons! My 3rd and 4th year clinical rotations were based in Anchorage, which allowed me to form relationships with the great practitioners here and reminded me how special of a place this is. Residency then brought my husband and I to the Midwest, where I completed my OB-GYN training at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The training I received was exceptional and comprehensive. At the end of residency, my husband and I welcomed our beautiful daughter into this world, which extended my compassion and understanding for expecting patients even more. Living the fears, excitements, and unknowns of pregnancy and birthing has allowed me to truly empathize with my patients as they also experience a wide array of feelings through that time. It is also my joy to get to share in the journey of motherhood alongside many of my patients!
I have received phenomenal training in both obstetrics and gynecology and am excited to bring these skills to the care I provide for you. In addition to obstetrics and office gynecology, I have been specifically trained in both laparoscopic and robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgeries, which give my patients quick recoveries and good success after surgery. These techniques allow me to perform major surgeries such as hysterectomies, endometriosis therapy, and removal of ovarian cysts, while also leaving minimal visible scarring, as I strive to help my patients feel confident and beautiful, both inside and out!
When I’m not in the office, labor and delivery, or the operating room, you might catch me hiking a mountain with family, participating in local “For Women” events, or skiing the trails! I look forward to seeing my patients in the office and hospital, and if we are lucky, I’ll get to see you out in the beauty of the Alaskan outdoors, too!
“I want to work WITH you, to achieve your health goals and address your concerns, coming up with solutions together!”
